National Counties Online - accounts unavailable with the service:-

              • Deposit accounts
              • Joint accounts where two or more account holders are required to authorise transactions
              • Accounts held by organisations or corporate bodies, including clubs, associations, charities and companies
              • Accounts held by trustees
              • Accounts operated by a donee under a power of attorney

Financial Services Compensation Scheme

The Society participates in the Financial Services Compensation Scheme established under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. Payments under the Scheme are limited to a maximum of £50,000 of an investor's total shares and/or deposits in a Society. Most investors are covered, including individuals and small firms.

Those not covered include:-

              • A large company
              • A large partnership
              • A large mutual association
              • A local authority
              • An overseas financial services institution
              • Some pension funds
              • The auditors of the Society and its group
              • A person whose claim arises from transactions in connection with which they have been convicted for money laundering

A small number of categories of shares and deposits are not covered. Although most shares and deposits are denominated in sterling, all other currencies are covered. Further details are available from www.fscs.org.uk.
