The Classic Saver offers a simple, easy access way to manage your savings, while still earning an attractive rate of interest.


The Classic Saver key features are:

  • Open your account by post or at our Epsom branch 

  • Easy access to your savings

  • A minimum opening transaction of £20,000 is required

  • Save up to £250,000

  • Additions* allowed until the 23 February 2018 (the funding cut-off date), by debit card via our Online Service, by bank transfer from your bank account, by cheque through the post, or by visiting our Epsom Branch

  • Minimum withdrawal £100

  • Maximum withdrawal £25,000 per day per account

  • Variable interest rate, paid annually on 31 January and added to your account

  • Withdrawal instructions available online, over the telephone and at our Epsom branch.

*To send additional savings directly from your bank account the banking details you’ll need can be found on the back of your new account Certificate. To add to your account using your debit card you will need to register for our Online Service if you are not already a user for an existing account with us. You can register once you have received your new account Certificate. For security reasons the activation code required for your first log-in after registration is sent to you by post.

Can National Counties Building Society change the interest rate?

Yes, the interest rate is variable and may be changed. Please refer to Section 14 of the General Conditions for our Savings Accounts booklet for more information on when we may make changes to the interest rate and how this will be communicated

What would the estimated balance be after 12 months based on a £20,000 deposit?

How do I open and manage my account?

 Can I withdraw money?
  • Withdrawals are available without notice or access charge and can only be paid by bank transfer or transfer to another account with us

TAX STATUS: Interest is paid gross from 6 April 2016 due to the introduction of the Personal Savings Allowance (PSA). You will need to declare any income from savings interest earned over your PSA through a self-assessment tax return to HM Revenue & Customs

  • Please note Attorneys cannot operate the account using our Online Service

Use of a debit card to deposit savings

Please note that the debit card you use to deposit money via the Online Service should be registered to the address we hold for you.

Debit card transactions are subject to approval by your bank and may be declined if you do not have sufficient funds available in your bank account or the transaction exceeds your bank's anti-fraud limits.

Operating an account on behalf of someone else
